Every quarter is a fresh stat when it comes to your blogging business. With a new year and a new quarter ahead, there’s no better time than now to make sure you’re prepared so your business can reach new heights. Today, we’re diving in how to prepare your blog for Q1 so you can maximize your time and earnings and work smarter, not harder.
How to Prepare Your Blog for Q1
Are you ready to start the new year off strong? Here’s how to prepare your blog for Q1.
Review What Worked & What Didn’t in the Last Year
The only way you’ll be able to grow your business and come up with a strategy for the year ahead is by reflecting on what worked and what didn’t the previous year. This will help you determine what areas you need to spend more time on and the areas that you previously focused on but didn’t have the turn out you were expecting. Being educated about what works in your business is the only way you’ll be able to continue growing!
Set Goals for the New Year
What’s a new year (and quarter!) without setting new goals? Just like you would for your personal life, setting goals for your blogging business is one of the best ways to get things done and stay focused. We recommend setting large and small goals that you can achieve throughout the year. This can be everything from financial goals and brands you’d like to work with to number goals (i.e. reach X followers on Instagram) and everything in between.
Update Broken Links & Widgets
One of the best ways to improve user experience on your blog is to make sure links and widgets are updated. This will provide your audience with update-to-date information and will ensure you continue to make passive income from affiliate links, no matter how long ago you published a post.
Plan Your Editorial Calendar
Planning out your editorial calendar ahead of time will not only help keep you organized, but it’ll also help you prioritize the content you need to shoot. I always recommend starting with a brain dump of the content you’d like to create and then putting it into calendar form. This can be a physical calendar, a dated list, or even a program like ClickUp (more on the tools & resources I use in my business here!). Don’t forget to highlight any holidays you’d like to highlight if you want to create content around them.
If you already have sponsored content lined up for the new year, plug that information into your editorial calendar as well so you can get ahead on it. Don’t forget to look back at content that performed well in past years and see if there is an opportunity to update and recycle it so you can work smarter not harder.
Ask for Help
One of the best things you can do for your blogging business is to outsource the tasks you don’t love or have time for. This will help you free up time for the tasks that you actually want to be doing and enjoy, and make it easier for you to create content. If you’re not sure if it’s time to outsource tasks, I talk more about the signs to look out for in this blog post!
