The holidays are over, the excitement about the beginning of the year is dwindling, and the warm weather will be here before we know it. A lot of us have been in a “done is better than perfect” mood (we totally get it!) with content creation the last few months but it’s time to kick things up a notch! With the first quarter coming to a close in a few short weeks, it’s time to start planning for the season ahead. Today, we’re diving into how to prepare your blog for Q2 so you can continue to create new content and increase your profits!
How to Prepare Your Blog for Q2
To get your blog ready for Q2, here are our best tips for making the best of the quarter ahead. And who knows, maybe you’ll even be able to take a little extra time off!
Review the Last 90 Days
Before you start making any changes to your marketing strategy and drafting content ideas, take a look at the last 90 days. What types of content did you love creating? What types of content did your audience relate to the most? What content didn’t do as well as you were expecting? By taking notes on your best-performing content and the things that did/didn’t work in your business, you’ll be able to go into the next quarter with fresh ideas that will have a big impact.
Set Your Goals for the Quarter
Now that you’ve reviewed what did/didn’t work last quarter, it’s time to set your goals for the quarter ahead. These could be anything from monetary and numerical goals (reach $XXX in revenue, reach XXX followers) to goals that push your creativity. If you have any big goals for the year, this is also a great time to set mini goals that will help you achieve that larger goal.
Give your Marketing a Refresh
Have you been focusing only on Instagram for the last quarter? As a platform you don’t own, we always recommend having a diverse marketing strategy to help reach your audience, even if Instagram goes down. If you’ve been neglecting these areas, such as email marketing and blogging, now is the time to start focusing on them again. Even if you have been consistent across all platforms, take a look at the areas you can give a refresh!
Make Your Mental Health a Priority
We are here to tell you it is absolutely okay to take a step back from your blog and social media for a few days! We actually recommend doing just this. Taking this step away from work and social media is so important for your mental health. The great thing about content creation is that you can plan ahead and get things scheduled out so you’re still “posting” actively even if you’re not manually doing it.
Even if you’re not planning a week away to a tropical island (we wish we were!), taking your mental health seriously is so important in the digital age. Pick a day or two a week that you’re going to take a step back from social media (we love doing this on the weekends!) and find ways that help you relax after a long day. Our founder Tamela loves hitting the gym or taking a workout class to do just that!
Tailor Your Pitch
As a content creator, a large portion of your income comes to sponsored content with brands. After a busy holiday season, a lot of these brands took a step back from influencer marketing in the new year but as we enter Q2, this is going to change! Before we go into the new quarter, make a list of the brands you’d love to work with and make updates to your pitch to highlight a spring/summer angle. This is also a great time to update your media kit with your most up-to-date numbers!
