As an entrepreneur and business owner, my day-to-day always looks different, which is one of the things I love about what I do. I am able to shift my to-do list based on my mood and creativity levels and I can also take mid-day breaks to get things done around the house, run errands, and prioritize the things that are important to me. With that being said, being a virtual assistant and running your own business is no easy feat! It’s taken me a long time to figure out what works for me and my business and now that I’m a few years in, I’ve been able to plan out my weeks for ultimate productivity. If this is something you’re struggling with in your business, I hope this look into what my typical week looks like gives you some inspiration for planning your own week!
What My Typical Week Looks Like
Being a virtual assistant means wearing a lot of different hats so my days and weeks can vary, but with a little strategizing, I’ve been able to plan out my week so I know what to expect each day and it’s done wonders for my productivity.
CEO Day
Each week, I plan out a CEO day to tackle all of my admin tasks which typically includes planning out social media and blog content for The Social Icing (follow us on Instagram!), following up on client invoices, and paying contractors, among a million other tasks. Depending on what I have to get done, I’ll also take advantage of CEO days to tackle tasks around the house, go grocery shopping, and just relax because we all need time set aside of ourselves! I try to schedule my CEO days for Monday or Friday, but sometimes I’ll do this mid-week depending on my schedule.
Checking In with My Team
I would be nowhere without my team! I check in with them on Mondays to see what tasks they will be working on for our clients this week, see where I can help, and assign any tasks that came up over the weekend. Throughout the week, we’ll touch base regularly about the progress of ongoing tasks and make any changes that our clients might have requested.
Content Creation
In addition to client meetings and reporting, I also tackle content creation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The type of content I will be working on varies from client to client so when I sit down for my CEO day on Monday, I’ll plan out what types of content I’ll be working on and when. Batching similar types of content creation together has been game-changing for my productivity, too!
As I move from one type of content to the next, I’ll also work on scheduling out content and engaging with clients’ audiences.
Client Meetings & Reporting
From social media and LTK management to content planning, engagement, video editing, and email marketing, we support our clients in various areas of their content creation business, and with the industry constantly changing, regular check-ins with our clients are a must! I reserve Tuesday-Thursday for client meetings and reporting so I can keep them updated on what my team is working on and industry changes. This is also a great opportunity for them to update me on upcoming projects and themes they’d like to focus on in the coming weeks.
